“But that's the glory of foreign travel, as far as I am concerned. I don't want to know what people are talking about. I can't think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything. Suddenly you are five years old again. You can't read anything, you have only the most rudimentary sense of how things work, you can't even reliably cross a street without endangering your life. Your whole existence becomes a series of interesting guesses.”

“I was an adventurer, but she was not an adventuress. She was a 'wanderess.' Thus, she didn’t care about money, only experiences - whether they came from wealth or from poverty, it was all the same to her.”

Twelve Hours in London

I love long layovers.

Well, layovers over 4 hours because that means I get to explore an extra city! When booking my flight to South Africa, I made sure to choose the longest layover in London that I could find. Twelve hours- 7:30 am to 7:30 pm… perfect!

Honeymoon in Tanzania

Jambo , jambo!

(Jambo is “Hello” in Swahili)

There was no way in seven hells (Game of Thrones reference for my fellow ASOIAF geeks) I was going to do a lame, normal, average, run of the mill, beach honeymoon somewhere in the Caribbean. Sorry to all my friends and family who did, but then again, not sorry. Yall know who I am. I can’t do anything “normal”. Journey into the heart of malaria and Tsetse flies, herds of elephants and millions of wildebeests we go! Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, Africa was where I spent my first weeks of newlywed bliss with Brody.

We booked our Safari with Access 2 Tanzania and were fortunate to be guided by Fulgence. We customized every detail, from visiting Ngorongoro Crater to seeing the Great Wildebeest Migration, to relaxing on the beaches of Zanzibar. It was perfect!
